Summer Challenge Guidelines

  • Each challenge includes a fun interactive lesson and templates created by Ms. Shelley!
  • Each challenge will last a week and will be broken down into 3 age groups (7-9, 10-12 and 13-17).
  • Awards such as “Most Original Idea” and other challenge specific awards will be given to each age group.
  • Each challenge has a theme. If you do not stay within the theme we will still offer feedback on your work but you will not be eligible for an award.
  • Only one entry per person per challenge
  • No dark themes, gore or violence. Keep it fun and family-friendly.
  • By submitting your work you are giving the Dallas Theater permission to post it on our website and social media pages. We will not be responsible for retaining a copy of your work for future use.
  • ALL entries must be submitted via email by the submission deadline listed on each challenge. You may send over your entries early! Email your entries to- dallastheater@gmail.com

The Make-Up Believe Challenge

Theme: Fairy-tale/Fantasy (No gore or scary characters, please)

  • You may create your character on your on face or the face template linked below
  • You may use any medium (Makeup, chalk, markers, etc.) you would like. Just be safe!
  • Please submit the TWO best photos of your work by noon on Monday, July 6th to dallastheater@gmail.com
  • Awards will be posted on our website and social media pages by 5p on Friday, July 10th.

The “Once Upon a Time” Costume Challenge

Theme: Choose a WELL KNOWN storybook or movie character and design a costume from a specific time period for your character. (No gore or scary characters, please)

  • Use the template linked below to create your design
  • You may use any medium (colored pencils, chalk, markers, etc.) you would like. Think outside the box like magazine clippings, fabric scraps or anything you have around the house!
  • Please submit a photo of your work by noon on Monday, July 13th to dallastheater@gmail.com
  • Awards will be posted on our website and social media pages by 5p on Friday, July 17th.

Costume Template

The Welcome to Camp “Create Your Own Script” Challenge

Theme: Camp- You may interpret the theme however you choose but no horror or violence, please!

  • Use the template linked below to create your design
  • Your script may not exceed 10 minutes in length (about 10 pages when using the template below).
  • Your script must contain at least 2 characters but no more than 5
  • Please submit your script in a Word doc or PDF by noon on Monday, July 20th to dallastheater@gmail.com
  • Awards will be posted on our website and social media pages by 5p on Friday, July 24th.
