Our Mission Statement

The purpose of the Dallas Theater education program is to offer children, youth, and adults professional, engaging and diverse theatre classes where individuals can cultivate a love of the art while learning and growing their craft.

2026 – 2027 Program information will be announced summer 2026.

We are always adding new classes for kids, teens and adults!

The Dallas Theater provides full classes as well as one day workshops for students looking to further their skills in theatre. We offer programs for ages 8 to Adult and our offerings are on a rotating basis.

Acting Basics

Acting Basics Class Schedule

  • Acting Basics will run again late summer 2026. Check back for registration info! 
  • Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6p-8p.
  • Acting Classes are for children ages 8-11 and 12 to 15.
  • Your child MUST fall into the age range of the class you register for by the first day of class.
  • COST: $170 per student. $75 deposit is due at the time of registration.

Acting Basics

Ages 8-11 and 12-15

Acting Basics is a 5 week, 10 class course aimed at introducing students to acting basics and building a strong acting foundation. Both age groups will work in-depth in the areas of movement and space, character development, focus and concentration, and listening and reacting. The class will culminate in a group showcase of monologues and scenes OR a short play.
Once an actor completes Acting Basics, they will be eligible to take Advanced Acting. No experience is required for this course!

All classes are non-refundable unless canceled by the Dallas Theater.

Advanced Acting

Ages 8-11 and 12-15

Open to any student who has completed Acting I/Acting Basics, been in a Main Street Players production, or has multiple years of camp/comparable experience. This class will build on the basic foundation they already have, go more in-depth with various acting methods and script analysis and learn more about creating life-like, nuanced characters through timing, tone, and body language. This class will culminate in an acting showcase at the final class, free for friends and family to attend!

All classes are non-refundable unless canceled by the Dallas Theater.

Advanced Acting

Advanced Acting Class Schedule

**A Student may only take Acting I (Acting Basics) and Acting II (Advanced Acting) one time.  

  • Advanced Acting will run Jan 2027.Check back for more info!
  • Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6p-8p.
  • Acting Classes are for children ages 8-11 and 12 to 15.
  • Your child MUST fall into the age range of the class you register for by the first day of class.
  • COST: $170 per student. $75 deposit is due at the time of registration.

Intro to Tech and Design

Ages 13-18

This class with introduce students to the basics of technical theater and design. Students will be split into groups and each group will be given an area of design to focus on. Don’t worry, all students will still learn about the various areas of design! We will assign a short, ten-minute play and students will apply everything that they learn during class on creating a cohesive design element as if they were a true production team. We will also discuss safety and how to use our sound and light boards! Whether you are an actor looking to expand their knowledge of theater, or a true blue techie, this class is for you! No tech or artistic experience required!
This class will culminate in a reception where the students can show off their design sketches and builds.

All classes are non-refundable unless canceled by the Dallas Theater.

Intro to Tech and Design

We don't just offer classes throughout the year but also have workshops for kids, teens and adults!

We are taking the safety and health of our students and teachers very seriously. Here’s what we are doing to keep us all safe:

  • We will continue to follow CDC and State Mandated guidance for positive cases, close contacts, and quarantines.
  • Students will be encouraged to continue bring their own personal water bottles for camp.
  • Masks are welcomed but not required (unless adhering to exposure guidance as mandated by state DPH).
  • Multiple hand sanitizing stations will be available.
  • The Dallas Theater reserves the right to postpone/cancel classes for the safety and well-being of students and staff.
